Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is famous for its one-horned rhinoceros and Royal Bengal tigers. The park covers an area of 430 square kilometres, stretching from Jakhalabandha to Bokakhat. Kaziranga is home to about 2/3 of the world’s one-horned rhinoceroses, with around 3,000 rhinos living in the park. The park was established in 1905 with an initial area of 232 square kilometres (90 square miles).
You can find many animals in the park, including approximately 1,200 buffaloes, 4,000 deers, 500 elephants, and 120 tigers. Kaziranga is also known for its variety of birds, some of which migrate from the western and southern regions. The park is renowned worldwide for its rich wildlife, and we are proud to have this natural treasure in Assam. To ensure the safety of Kaziranga National Park, there are over 300 forest department camps, and sensors are in place to monitor vehicle speed limits to protect the animals.
